The Cave Inside Us

Both Peter Pan and Moana are led by a guide into a cave. Inside, they discover or remember who they are. In Hook (although not shown in the clip), the entrance to the cave is a giant stone head. Inside Peter explores his own lost memories.

In contrast, Moana’s cave is less personal and more ancestral. Inside, she discovers the lost memories of her people: that they were once voyagers. In both scenarios, a new mode of transportation is unlocked. Moana’s is naval, Peter’s is aerial.
